Dr. Julie Churchill completed combined residencies and PhD program in small animal internal medicine and clinical nutrition at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Churchill developed a small animal clinical nutrition service at the UMN Veterinary Medical Center and developed a model to make it the first financially self-sustaining nutrition service in an academic institution. Dr. Churchill is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and a member of the American Academy of Veterinary Nutrition (AAVN). Dr. Churchill teaches small animal nutrition courses throughout all 4 years of the DVM curriculum.

Dr. Churchill is passionate about all aspects of small animal clinical nutrition including the role of nutrition in maintaining wellness and preventive care, obesity prevention and treatment, the nutrition needs of geriatric patients, nutritional management of kidney diseases, and critical care nutrition. She is also interested in teaching and improving client communication to successfully integrate nutrition into the care of every patient. She served on the task force to develop the AAHA guidelines for weight management. She serves on the executive board of the Pet Nutrition Alliance (PNA) and on the educational tools committee of PNA working to develop a “go-to” website for credible nutritional information for veterinary practice teams and consumers. Dr. Churchill also serves on the board of the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention and is a coauthor and advocate for a global pet obesity initiative that has been endorsed by 23 veterinary professional organizations.

Linda Toresson graduated from the Swedish University of Agricultural Science in 1995. Since 1996, she has worked at Evidensia Specialist Animal Hospital, Helsingborg, Sweden, focusing on small animal gastroenterology. In 2001, she became a Swedish Specialist in diseases of dogs and cats and in 2007 a Swedish Specialist in Small Animal Internal Medicine. Linda served as the Medical Director at Evidensia Specialist Animal Hospital, Helsingborg during 2007-2013, a position she left to become an external PhD-student in gastroenterology at Helsinki University. In 2018, she presented her thesis on oral cobalamin supplementation in dogs with chronic enteropathies and was awarded a PhD with distinction.

Linda’s case load consists exclusively of dogs and cats with gastrointestinal diseases. She is combining clinical practice at the Evidensia Specialist Animal Hospital in Helsingborg with GI research, and is still affiliated with Helsinki University as an external researcher. For more than a decade, she has collaborated in various projects with professors Joerg Steiner and Jan Suchodolski at the Gastrointestinal Laboratory, Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. Her main research interest is the intestinal microbiome , including modulation of the microbiome beyond antibiotics
She currently serves as the president of the European Society of Comparative gastroenterology.

Shoshana is a proud Registered Veterinary Technician who enjoys sharing and igniting a passion for veterinary nutrition in her peers. She has a special interest in nutrition research and technology, client communication, canine and feline obesity, and performance dog nutrition.

Veterinary nutrition has always been a passion for Shoshana. Pursing her passion throughout her career, she achieved her Veterinary Technician Specialty in Nutrition in 2015.

In her current role as the Veterinary Nutrition Specialty Technician with the Clinical Nutrition Service at the Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph, Shoshana utilizes a broad scope of her skills in clinical practice and research, while supporting hospitalized patients, veterinary students, interns, and residents.

Shoshana is an active mentor and member of the Academy of Veterinary Nutrition Technicians and Registered Veterinary Technicians and Technologists of Canada and chair of the Outreach Committee of the Canadian Academy of Veterinary Nutrition.

In her free time, Shoshana trains and competes with her German Shepherds, (Iron, Xenon and Kinetic) in several dog sports, and enjoys life outdoors with her young son and partner.

Dr. Marge Chandler is an independent consultant in small animal nutrition and internal medicine, Clinical Nutritionist for Vets Now Referrals, Glasgow, and Internal Medicine Specialist for Moorview Referrals in Newcastle. She has a BS from California State University and a MS (Animal Nutrition) and DVM from Colorado State University (CSU). After several years in mixed practice, she did residencies in small animal medicine and clinical nutrition at CSU and Massey University, New Zealand. She is a Diplomate of ACVIM (Small Animal Internal Medicine and Nutrition), member of the ANZCVS (SAM), Chair of the FEDIAF Scientific Advisory Committee, founding member of the European Veterinary Nutrition Educators Group, and Co-Chair of the WSAVA Global Nutrition Committee.

Stefan Unterer is the head of the gastroenterology service at the Clinic of Small Animal Internal Medicine of the Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich/Germany. He completed his internship and residency in small animal internal medicine at the University of Zürich/Switzerland and University of Georgia/USA. Stefan Unterer became board-certified by the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 2003. After one year in private practice, he returned to academia and became a faculty member at the University of Munich/Germany. He finished his habilitation thesis in 2016. Stefan Unterer will start his new position as Professor/Chair of Small Animal Internal Medicine and Director of the Small
Animal Internal Medicine Clinic at the Vetsuisse Faculty Zurich/Switzerland in February 1st 2022. His clinical research projects include the intestinal microbiome, acute hemorrhagic diarrhea in dogs, intestinal barrier function and longterm consequences of acute enteritis.
